Confirmation Preparation
What is confirmation?
Every year we share with our neighbouring churches in a Confirmation Services led by the Bishop. This is an opportunity for anyone who has been baptised, but is not yet a full member of the Church of England, to affirm and own for themselves the promises made on their behalf at baptism.
In days gone by this was a step usually taken by youngsters in their early teens, but nowadays more people are not being confirmed as young people but are coming to this further step of faith as adults.
What is involved?
Confirmation involves some preparation beforehand, and during the service the Bishop will lay his hands on each candidate, praying for them to be filled with the Holy Spirit and,
once confirmed, a Christian is then a full member of the Church of England and can partake in Holy Communion, which is a core element of Christian worship.
