From 1808 the Peter Aubertins, father and son, were the priests in charge of the parish until 1889. The church building was in a bad state of repair and they organised the much needed restoration work. In 1827 the 14th century
font was placed on its present base and steps, and the pews were added in 1896.

The New Vestry was built in 1985. An ancient yew tree that had stood in the churchyard, probably for over 1000 years, was destroyed in the 1987 hurricane. However, a new font cover was dedicated in 1993, which was carved mainly from the wood of the old tree, and some cuttings from the old yew were taken and can be seen flourishing again in the churchyard.
