New to Church?

Welcome mat

Why are we here?

St Margaret’s is part of the Church of England.  We are the local parish church for residents of Chipstead, Mugswell, Hooley, and Netherne on the Hill.  The parish system means that everyone in England has a local church which is ‘theirs’.

We gather as a community to know and share God’s transforming love with each other, with our local community and with the wider world.   We worship God together on Sundays and at other times, we try to serve our community through projects such as a Warm Hub and Maggie’s Song (amongst others) and also through pastoral care.  It is also our responsibility and our joy to celebrate special services with people at key moments in life.
What do we believe?

All over the world, Christians believe that there is a God, and that, two thousand years ago, God was seen in a new and deeper way in the life, death and resurrection of Jesus, the Christ.  Click here for some more detailed information.

What happens on a Sunday?

If you come to visit us for the first time on a Sunday, you will be very welcome indeed.  Information about each of our services is here.  We recognise that coming to church for the first time can be a little bit daunting.  Please don’t worry!  It doesn’t matter how you dress or stand or sit.  And if you can’t stay for the whole service, come when you can and go when you need to.

If you have any other questions about coming to visit, please contact us.
